Dadvocate: Our "Why"
The Dadass Podcast and CBUS Dads Blog are using our platforms to advocate for causes near to our hearts throughout central Ohio. Starting with our Dadvocate Campaign for changing tables in men's rooms throughout Columbus to future campaigns in the works, we will use this as our community impact, social responsibility arm of our podcast and blog. Stayed tuned to #DadvocateforChange!
Thank You for a Great Event
On Saturday, May 14 we hosted a Dadvocate for Change kickoff and Diaper Drive at North High Brewing - Dublin. With over 60 attendees and eight community and business Dadvocate partners we collected over 3,200 diapers and 720 wipes in support of Bottoms Up Diaper Bank. Together we were able to provide help for over 127 families in need.
Important conversations were had across the tap room that day and more need to be had across board rooms and dinning rooms throughout Columbus. Please, help us as we continue to Dadvocate for increased access to safe, clean changing table solutions in Columbus. A special thank you to our friends with Pluie who helped support our event and installed their first self-sanitizing changing table in Columbus at North High - Dublin. We also want to thank our other partners: Beehive Alliance, Cincinnati Dads Group, Columbus Dads Group, N2N Westerville, North High Brewing, Two RN's in a Pod and Simone McKenna Fitness. |
What We're Dadvocating For
The Dadass Podcast and CBUS Dads Blog are raising awareness for the need of changing stations in men's rooms and gender-neutral bathrooms at "family friendly" locations throughout Columbus, OH while advocating for the benefits for businesses, families and all. There's no better time to spark change than now and it begins one diaper at a time.
Did Your Know?!?
Only 15 states have baby changing accommodations legislation. The federal government and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) doesn't require changing stations. The Bathroom Accessible In Every Situation Act (BABIES Act) is a law that requires baby changing stations in women’s and men’s rooms in federal buildings. A 2019 survey found that only 20% of Washington DC restaurants had changing tables in restrooms. |
Partnering with Pluie

While researching ways to kickoff this campaign we were introduced to Pluie and the two moms behind the first of its kind changing table, Addie Gundry (Founder and CEO) and Brittany Hizer (COO).
Pluie is the world’s first and only self-sanitizing diaper changing table for public restrooms, powered by a patented UV-C light system. UV-C light is known to kill 99.9% of germs including influenza, e. Coli, and coronavirus. The changing surface is sanitized by the UV-C light in 60 seconds after each use when closed.
The idea came to Gundry when she was at a restaurant with her 10-month-old son, and he had a diaper blowout. The changing table in the women’s restroom was dirty, and the men’s room didn’t have a table at all. She said to her husband, “I think we can design a better one.” That experience inspired her to design and patent what is now Pluie to offer a better solution for businesses and parents on the go.
Pluie is proudly female-founded and operated by two Chicago moms committed to Changing the Table™, their mission is to modernize the outdated public restroom changing table experience and ensure all parents and caregivers on the go have access to a clean, safe and comfortable place to change their baby’s diaper.
