The Dadass Podcast Is Back! Why We Stepped Away and Why We’re Coming Back Now

If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember The Dadass Podcast - a show built on honest conversations about parenting, adulting and figuring life out without pretending any of us has it all together.

After a longer‑than‑expected hiatus, we’re officially back.

And truthfully? This relaunch feels more meaningful than the original launch did six years ago.

Why We Hit Pause
At some point, we gave ourselves permission to press pause. Like a lot of parents, I reached a season where life demanded more than a content calendar could give. Families grew. Careers evolved. Responsibilities shifted. Instead of forcing episodes just to stay active, we chose to prioritize life over content.

For me, that season included welcoming a second child. You can’t spend years talking on a podcast about being an equal partner and then not practice it at home when it matters most. Pressing pause wasn’t stepping away from the message - it was living it.

The break gave us time, perspective and clarity about why this podcast exists in the first place.

Why Now?
Because the conversations worth having didn’t stop. If anything, they became more important. We’re coming back with fewer expectations, more intention and a clearer understanding that parenting and adulthood aren’t about perfection. They’re about growth, accountability and showing up a little better when you can. This return isn’t about chasing downloads or filling space. It’s about creating something meaningful that fits the season we’re actually in.

A Quick Refresher: What Is The Dadass Podcast?
The Dadass Podcast is an award‑winning podcast centered on real conversations about parenting, adulting, relationships, leadership, and life. The show is hosted by me - Matt, a father of two navigating family, career and community leadership - and Shaun, an adolescent behavioral health professional and proud uncle who brings a grounded, practical mental health lens to every conversation.

It’s lived experience and thoughtful dialogue, usually over a drink in Shaun’s garage bar, The Rusty Lantern. No experts on pedestals. No fake perfection. Just real conversations that meet people where they are. And yes, there are occasional dad jokes - we’re not monsters.

The Relaunch Episode: Our Comeback Era – Choosing Life Over Content
In the relaunch episode, Shaun and I sit down to talk openly about the break—what led to the hiatus, what life looked like while the microphones were off and why the decision to return feels different this time. We reflect on choosing life over content, how priorities shift as families grow and why this next chapter of the podcast is grounded in intention rather than obligation. It’s an honest reset that frames what the podcast was, what it is now and where it’s heading.

What’s Next for the Podcast
New episodes of The Dadass Podcast will drop every Tuesday. Some weeks that will look like the longer‑form conversations listeners are used to. Other weeks will be shorter reflections through a new format we’re calling “Just a Thought” - brief episodes meant to fit real life without asking for a full hour, just a couple minutes of your time.

Outside of the podcast feed, Shaun will also be hosting a weekly “One Minute Better” series every Monday morning on Instagram. These short reflections will focus on mindfulness, mental health and practical ways parents and kids can build healthier emotional habits together.

The goal isn’t to add more noise. It’s to offer something useful, thoughtful and manageable.

    About

CBUS Dads is a community of central Ohio area dads balancing an active lifestyle with being an involved parent. A Saturday for us may involve enjoying morning t-ball, lunch at a new local spot and an evening at a summer festival with our families. We may live downtown, in the suburbs or somewhere between, but our common thread is that we continue to experience the community we love - now as parents.
